Job Overview

The Head of Project Management is responsible for the overall management of the Project Management team that includes Project Managers, Project Control & Project Engineers.

In your role you will manage strategic projects as advised by the management and will also lead, guide and influence Project Managers regarding Project Governance and good project practices.

Responsibilities and Duties

The duties of the HOPM includes, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Leads and is responsible for the Project Management, Project Control Teams.
  • Manages and develops overall Project Management Office processes with respect to the project deliveries together with the Manager, Operation and Project Delivery.
  • Ensures interdisciplinary interfaces are working flawlessly.
  • Interacts with Head of Engineering Management, Discipline Managers and Project Control in order to meet the project KPIs; safety, PoC, gross margin, schedule, cost and quality requirements set by the Company and its Customers in project deliveries.
  • Leads the project estimates from Delivery side in bidding and negotiation phases, manages and develops lessons learned and feedback process throughout the sales –> delivery –> sales end-to-end process.
  • Assures seamless take-over of project delivery from sales and seamless hand-over of project delivery back to sales.
  • Collaborates and liaise at the same level of Head of Engineering Management and Head of QHSE.
  • Ensure that the PM Team Deliver Projects as were Sold, to the Customer and with planned Gross Margin to the Company
  • Leads and manages projects (assigned to him) under supervision of the Manager, Operation and Project Deliveries.
  • Responsible for the developmental aspect of Project Management and Project Control Procedures; to support the Project Management Office to meet a seamless execution methodology of projects through all gates checks of quality, delivery of scope, with the sold gross margins in a timely manner.
  • Take ownership of overall responsibility of the Revenue and Expenses recognition of the ongoing projects to meet the Target corporate Profit Margins and a Full overview of the Projects’ portfolio
  • Maintain direct contact with primary and end customer with respect to our project portfolio. Takes care of escalated issues from PMs, and customer relationship in overall
  • Coach project team members and other subordinates
  • Cooperate and liaise with Sales, QHSE, Engineering, PM/Project Control and Administration in order to meet company targets
  • Identify project KPIs at the project initiation phase
  • Ensure safe, quality, timely and cost-efficient project implementation
  • Ensure high resource capacity utilization and efficiency in projects
  • Suggest training and improvements on need basis
  • Ensure that software for projects are available and efficiently utilized
  • Act as frontline towards customers and subcontractors, suppliers in projects
  • Report efficiently, timely and pro-actively to the management on project activities, deviations and achievements (minimum weekly basis)
  • Measure and reports reliably projects actual progress (PoC), productivity efficiency, remaining work, cost and time in order to have proper and trustworthy revenue and cost recognition and financial (Gross Margin) forecasting
  • Suggest and implements timely and actively improvements in overall performance
  • Lead PMs, project control, engineering and procurement work in his/her projects
  • Ensure the agreed project deliverables are delivered in accordance to agreed quality, scope and schedule.
  • Verify all scope variations from scope, time and cost perspective, and presents them to management
  • Takes responsibility that the planned cashflow in projects is achieved
  • Ensure that all interdisciplinary checks and other quality checks are effectively performed

Qualifications

  • Engineering Graduate (BSc. or MSc.)
  • Minimum of 15 years experience in Engineering consultancy services.
  • Oil and Gas industry competence in the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical and Chemical Industries.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong practical experience with Microsoft Office
  • Strong collaboration and team-building skills
  • 5 – 10 years of proven success as Project Manager within ADNOC Projects
  • Outstanding organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills
  • At least 2 years of proven success directing a Project Management team
  • Expert application of PM techniques
  • High level of influence and credibility
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Complete educational background, preferably in the fields of computer science or engineering for technical project managers
  • Additional certification such as PMP or PRINCE II will be a bonus
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong understanding of business change management.
  • UAE local experience is added value.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Fluent in the English language
